They are not calling now that the young are fledged, so it is not at all easy to locate them or to discover when they might have left for their winter feeding grounds……

Plenty of activity now – numerous pairs in the local area. One (of a pair) seen on the ground in a nearby field, which is a first for me. They are quite hard to spot when they are in amongst the grass. As usual, the camera was safely sat at home where it was of no use whatsoever.
There are arrivals to the south of Fawfieldhead on the western side of the B5053 Longnor to Warslow road. The plan is to try to capture some activity on video, although I’ve noticed that was our intention a year ago…….
We have received the following from one of the Peak Park Rangers:
The first Curlew arrived on 12th February at Marsh Farm, five days earlier than we have recorded before. At present there are around 120 here waiting to disperse to their breeding grounds.
